What is black eyed leaf frog?

The black-eyed leaf frog, also known as the red-eyed leaf frog, is a species of frog native to Central America, primarily found in Costa Rica and Panama. They are known for their striking coloration, which includes bright red eyes and vibrant green skin with black spots.

These frogs are typically found near streams and rivers in rainforests, where they lay their eggs on leaves overhanging the water. The tadpoles then drop into the water below and develop into froglets.

Black-eyed leaf frogs are primarily nocturnal, spending their days hiding in vegetation and emerging at night to hunt for insects and other small prey. They have adhesive toe pads that allow them to climb and cling to vegetation.

Unfortunately, these frogs are threatened by habitat destruction, pollution, and the pet trade. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their populations and habitat.
